Golden Milk Recipe (Turmeric Latte) - Easy & Healthy

This warm, anti-inflammatory drink is both soothing and healthful. Perfect for winding down in the evening or as a caffeine-free morning beverage.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based like almond, oat, or coconut)
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger)
  • Pinch of black pepper (helps turmeric absorption)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of cardamom (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: In a small saucepan, whisk together the milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper.

  2. Heat gently: Warm over medium heat, stirring frequently. Don't let it boil—just heat until steaming and fragrant (about 5 minutes).

  3. Sweeten: Remove from heat and stir in honey or maple syrup and vanilla extract if using.

  4. Strain and serve: For a smoother texture, strain through a fine-mesh sieve. Pour into a mug.

  5. Froth (optional): Use a milk frother or whisk vigorously for a foamy top.

  6. Garnish: Sprinkle with extra cinnamon or a few drops of honey on top.

Tips

  • Make it ahead: Prepare a golden milk paste by mixing turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper with a bit of coconut oil. Store in the fridge and add a teaspoon to warm milk.
  • Adjust sweetness: Start with less sweetener and add more to taste.
  • Fresh turmeric: If using fresh turmeric root, use about 1-inch piece, peeled and grated.

Enjoy this golden, cozy cup of wellness!
