Anti-Inflammatory & Delicious: The Ultimate Ginger Iced Tea

Making ginger iced tea is refreshing and easy! You can use either fresh ginger or dried ginger, but fresh ginger gives a brighter, spicier flavor, while dried ginger is more earthy and concentrated. Here’s how to make it:

Ginger Iced Tea Recipe

(Makes about 4 servings)

Ingredients:

  • 3–4 tbsp fresh ginger (peeled & sliced) OR 1–2 tsp dried ginger powder
  • 4 cups water (for brewing)
  • 2–3 black or green tea bags (or 2 tsp loose-leaf tea)
  • Sweetener (optional: honey, sugar, or maple syrup, to taste)
  • Lemon or lime juice (optional, for brightness)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint or lemon slices (for garnish, optional)

Method:

1. Brew the Ginger Tea

  • If using fresh ginger:

    • Peel & thinly slice 3–4 tbsp fresh ginger (more for stronger spice).
    • In a pot, boil 4 cups water, then add ginger.
    • Simmer 5–10 min (longer = stronger flavor).
    • Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep 3–5 min (don’t oversteep or it’ll get bitter).
  • If using dried ginger:

    • Boil water, then add 1–2 tsp dried ginger powder (adjust to taste).
    • Simmer 3–5 min, then steep tea as above.

2. Sweeten & Cool

  • Strain out ginger & tea leaves/bags.
  • Stir in sweetener while warm (if using).
  • Let cool to room temp, then refrigerate 1–2 hours (or speed-chill over ice).

3. Serve Iced

  • Fill glasses with ice, pour tea over.
  • Add lemon/lime juice (optional) & garnish with mint or lemon slices.

Tips for Best Results:

Stronger ginger flavor? Use more ginger or simmer longer.
Less spicy? Reduce ginger or add more sweetener.
Variations:

  • Add cinnamon stick or star anise while brewing.
  • Use honey & lemon for a "ginger-lemonade" twist.
  • Mix with peach or mango juice for a fruity version.
